We moved to Boise, Id after my dad's retirement in 1970 (summer between junior and senior year) and I graduated from Emmett (Id) High School. Went to Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Id and graduated in 1975 with a BA in Business Ad. Started working for The Bon Marche' (multi-state Department Store, HQ in Seattle) in one of the branch stores in Idaho as the Operations Manager. Promoted to the buying offices in Seattle in 1978 and promoted to Associate Buyer, Men's Department working with, and traveling in representation for, all nine buyers in the Men's Division. Received an offer from Pierre Cardin in 1980 to be the VP West Coast. Moved to Los Angeles. Oversaw western 13 States for Pierre Cardin until 4/'86. Married Lori (Hiller) Veal in 1983. Lori and I purchased a 53 year old established, but very tired, Stationery and Gift store in Montecito, Ca. We tripled the business in a little over six years and sold it for 5x our purchase price in late 1992. #1 Son, Andrew, was born at Huntington Memorial in Pasadena in 1986. #2 Son, Patrick, was born at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. We sold our place in Carpinteria, Ca in 1992 and moved to Boise, Id and built a beautiful home on the Boise River. Took a job as the sales manager for Kalbus Office Supply in Nampa, Id and oversaw the salesmen for an extensive area of SW Idaho. #3 Daughter, Hayley, born at St. Luke's in Boise in 1993.
